This is one of very few South African markets run by crafters, exclusively for crafters. The Country Craft Market was established in 1983 and is famous for the quality and variety of the handmade items on offer. Southey’s Vines has been our home for 38 years, making us the oldest craft market in the Helderberg basin. The market is child & pet friendly and wheelchair accessible.
Crafters and artists come together twice a month on Saturday mornings at Southey's Vines, 186 Main Rd, Somerset West for this true handcraft market. We are always committed to providing the best quality handmade crafts, from full sized-sculptures to small pocket-sized gifts, art, soft furnishings, soaps, home and garden decor, clothing,
Crafters and artists come together twice a month on Saturday mornings at Southey's Vines, 186 Main Rd, Somerset West for this true handcraft market. We are always committed to providing the best quality handmade crafts, from full sized-sculptures to small pocket-sized gifts, art, soft furnishings, soaps, home and garden decor, clothing, jewellery, recycled and up-cycled art, ceramics and glass. There are always new and interesting crafts on offer. The Country Kitchen provides a place to sit down in the shade and enjoy a light lunch or craft beer while being entertained by one of our talented buskers.
The Country Craft Market welcomes applications by all crafters and artists on an ongoing basis. It is a true CRAFT market and everything has to be handmade and sold by the applicants themselves.
The market has an approval process and new applicants are required to attend a selection market. This involves setting up a stall and trading at one of our regular markets where our selectors will ensure that the market’s criteria are met.
To apply, please send an email to countrycraftmarket@gmail.com, where you describe your products and include a couple of photos and/or social media links to your work as well as your contact number. If your products can be accommodated, you’ll be sent details about the next available spot at a selection day and how to go about booking your stall.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Food traders: please send your menu, photos and contact details as listed above.

My colourful additions to these baskets are not haphazard, but are based on the traditional colours of Southern African tribes. They use gold, black and brown to reflect Xhosa culture, incorporate blue to capture the cultural identity of the Zulus, and make orange dominated designs that are reminiscent of the Ndebele people's colour preferences.
