I started my craft about 5 years ago when a friend of the family arrived from Germany wearing a hand-painted silk scarf. I fell in love with it and since then, taught myself to paint on silk. I find it a most relaxing activity.

I import my silk with the hems already hand stitched according to the sizes I require. The sizes I use are 55 x 55 cm, 75 x 75 cm, 90 x 90 cm, 140 x 45 cm, 180 x 45 cm.

Each scarf is then hand painted individually, using special paints used for silk. Once completed, the scarf is fixed to make it colour fast for hand washing.

I am inspired by nature and therefore the colours I use change with the seasons. Obviously I also have to take note of fashion trends. I colour the scarves using two techniques. One is called a crunchy, done on a table. The other is a design that is done on a frame.

Designs are only available in 90 x 90 cm and 140 x 45 cm sizes.

It is my hope that those who purchase my scarves, will enjoy wearing them as much as I enjoy making them.
