I have practised many art forms but once I discovered silk painting, this became my passion. No other art form produces such luminosity. There is no doubt that painting on silk gives great vitality to any subject matter.
Even though silk is an unforgiving medium, the results are worth all the skill and care needed to produce good work. It is an ancient art-form that originated in the East and many silk artworks of great antiquity are still extant. This is thanks to the tremendous durability of silk. And this is why I always only use fine habitai silk.
Even though this is an ancient art-form, because of repeated reintroduction and updating with modern techniques and materials, it remains ever popular. Unlike other forms of painting, silk paintings can be used in many more ways, from framed pictures to cushion covers, and even jewellery.
My designs are all original and considering the organic source of silk, it is perhaps not surprising that my main inspiration is from nature. I prefer floral and marine themes but have also developed African and ethnic designs. I spend much time making exploratory drawings, from life if possible, and then refining them into final designs. By the time one begins with a silk painting, the composition must have been well thought out.

I generally restricts the number of colours in a painting to two or three and employ shading to add the contrasts. It is much more effective than a mishmash of many colours.
My range of products includes my original silk paintings, hand-painted cushion covers, and fridge magnets, greetings cards, and birthday calendars decorated with reproductions of my original silk paintings.
