Tatting is a craft that can be traced back as far as the 16th Century.
Tatting is indeed "Old World Elegance"
Tatting differs from crochet, which is made up of chains, and from bobbin lace, which can be defined as weaving. Tatting consists entirely of knots and loops.
The knots were made by hand using a needle - and today a shuttle is used to form each knot - resulting in an exquisite piece of work.
My mother (87) has been tatting ever since I can remember and about 12 years ago I learnt the fascinating art. It is a therapeutic pastime and the results can be seen at my stall at the Country Craft Market.
Wear it, hang it, frame it. Use it so that your great grand children will know that you appreciate the finer things in life!
Elegance ... has no "sell by" date!
