I started my own micro business in 1999, producing resist-dyed fabric items with African themes. In the images on my linens, I try to captures on cloth, the vibrant essence of Africa. From patterns to faces, animals to appliquéd effects, they are bold, and colourful but still subtle.

But my designs are just the first step towards producing my craftwork that finally emerges in the form of table cloths and place mats, cushions and cushion covers, aprons, and even for the fashion extrovert, waistcoats. I do all my own sewing and use various sewing techniques to ensure the dyed images are presented in the best way.

My equipment is basic and my work is as handmade as is possible. I start with plain coloured, or white, cloth, and apply chalk, bread flower, water, heat and other ingredients in the process of getting the images onto the cloth.
